It is also blessed with bountiful seafood. Being located in the most northern area of Japan, winter is very cold and it is cool even in the summer. 2This region produces about 27% of rice product in Japan, which is the staple food for most Japanese. Production of fruits like apples, cherries and peaches are also popular. 3Being the center of politics, economy and industries, this region has almost 34% of the whole population of Japan. The coastal area is a busy port for factories' production line and shipping, the central area is the core for business and culture, and the inland area is rich in agriculture. Each area shows its uniqueness.4The Chubu Region sits in the middle of Japan. The side facing the Sea of Japan sees lots of snow and is active in rice growth. The side facing the Pacifi c is warm and produces tangerines and Japanese tea. There is also the industrial area which expands from Nagoya city of Aichi Pref.5Kinki Region is the core of Western Japan and is as important as the Kanto Region. There are many unique cities, starting with Kyoto and Nara where old traditions still exist, and cities like Osaka and Kobe where modern buildings shape the skyline.6The side on the Sea of Japan of Chugoku Region snows a lot in winter, whereas it rains heavily in summer in the side of the Pacifi c of Shikoku. The Setouchi Sea is warm throughout the year. There are many tiny islands and you can see clam sceneries from the bridge connecting Chugoku, Shikoku Region. 7There are many remnants of foreign cultures in Kyushu as it was the gate to overseas trading in the olden days. The northern part is an industrial area while the southern part is engaged in agriculture. Fishery is also active in this region due to the ocean currents. Okinawa is one of the sightseeing regions where the seas are most beautiful.
