There are two campuses within the prefecture, and the campus our students attend depends on the course and club activities they are enrolled in. At the Miyagino campus, the Shukoh Junior High School joint establishment is administrated by Sendai Ikuei Gakuen, the school's parent organization. The school has a six-year integrated education program under development that includes three years in junior high school and three years in high school. We asked Mr. Jun Ogata, Director of the International Center, about the appeal of studying at Sendai Ikuei Gakuen High School.endai Ikuei Gakuen High School has a long history, dating back to 1905, when the school's predecessor, Ikuei Juku (private school), was established. In 1963, high school students established Japan's first international club named “International Service Club.” This was the inspiration for the school's motto, “Education for International Understanding.” he school is an International Baccalaureate (IB) accredited institution that has been continuously improving an international educational program since 2015. Currently, there are about 100 international students enrolled in various courses. These students come from China, South Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, the United States, New Zealand, Russia, Kenya, and the list is always expanding. he admission periods are in April and October, and courses end in March, which matches the graduation time of Japanese high schools. The students who enrolled in April 2021 but could not enter Japan because of the new coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) are taking online classes in their home countries. 90% of international students graduating from Sendai Ikuei Gakuen High School go to universities in Japan. As a result of this achievement, 1,349 places have been created in 248 universities for student acceptance through a “designated school recommendation system.” Many international students who graduated in March 2021 took the same entrance examinations as Japanese students and were accepted by national universities. The other 10% of students as graduates of a school accredited by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) entered universities in their home countries or overseas. matter of concern most international students have is what level of Japanese language is required to study in Japanese high schools. Generally, as an admission qualification, the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N4 is required, but it is optional if students enroll in the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IBDP) from the second year. IBDP students take 8 classes, mainly in English. Students who have the N4 level at enrollment will intensively study Japanese for 6 months in the Japanese as a Second Language (JSL) class and then take classes with Japanese students. This might seem overwhelming at first, but your Japanese will improve much faster as you make friends in your classes. Our goal is to ensure that all students pass the JLPT N2 test flawlessly at the time of graduation. We have a variety of sports teams and extracurricular clubs. For example, the baseball, track & field, the rugby, track & field, and soccer teams most often. Besides that, many international students join morning and evening. r. Jun Ogata, director of the International Center, appeals to students from abroad, “There are many international students from Asia in our school, but by gathering international students from a wide range of countries, we will be able to deliver even more international global education. Japan is also the origin of anime, manga, and many popular games, so we are happy to welcome people who are interested in Japanese language, culture, and Japan in general.” apanese high schools have a unique culture and customs that differ from other countries, such as uniforms and club activities. Also, Japan is famous for its good public order, so much that it's even safe enough for students of all ages to walk home from school. “I think from a global perspective studying in Japan is safe, peaceful, and cheap, so I hope that the number of people coming from abroad to study in Japanese high schools will increase.” Mr. Ogata continues, “The number of international students enrolling in Japanese high schools is increasing yearly, so is the number of high schools that are accepting them.” The language proficiency of international students can be expected to improve close to the level of native speakers, especially in listening and conversational ability. Without a doubt, studying abroad at an early age will maximize children's learning potential.cheerleading or the Japanese culture clubs: Wadaiko (Japanese drums), karate, and calligraphy.Sendai Ikuei Gakuen High School Enjoy High School Lifeand Go to University in Japan!!High School ReportHigh school life in Japan starts with Sendai.
