It started with the desire of “Nikkei”, the Japanese-Americans, in Hawaii to deliver news and music in their own language every day. KZOO Radio has become a very important necessity for the Nikkei community. In the past, famous people such as Ms. Hibari Misora and Mr. Junzaburo Ban and many others have visited the studio for interviews and events. Even now, the station has been embraced by Japanese speakers and continues to broadcast radio in Japanese. Looking back on KZOO Radio's nearly 60-year history, we asked Robyn about her message to Japanese learners.―Please summarize your career so far.was born and raised as a third-generation Japanese American in Honolulu, Hawaii. While I was a student at the University of Hawaii at the age of 20, I worked part-time as a DJ and announcer at KZOO Radio, a radio station that broadcasts Japanese 24-hours. In 1992, I married David, the current owner of KZOO Radio, and am now the General Manager (Vice President) of KZOO Radio.his past April, we held a party to celebrate my 60th birthday, combining it with the radio station's 60th anniversary kickoff party. In this case, we should say specifically, “If you've evacuated, please stay in the shelter. If you're still at home, please turn off the electricity, then evacuate.” It's important to transmit information by understanding the nature of the listeners, and understanding that we can't save peoples' lives unless we communicate effectively.n the past, when there was a big earthquake in Hawaii, there was a flood of calls and the phone lines were extremely crowded.
