I made many friends and enjoyed my time studying Japanese at Yu Language Academy. Additionally, the closest station to Yu Language Academy was Shin-Okubo Station on the JR Yamanote Line, so after school, my friends and I would go out to Shinjuku and many other places using this line. While Hawaii is rich in nature with its oceans and mountains, Tokyo has many buildings, commercial facilities, and restaurants , which gave me a very exciting and fulfi lling life. will be entering the Comic Illustration Advanced Diploma Course at Tokyo Communication Art Training School in April 2025. I was drawing pictures at my parents' house in Hawaii when the coronavirus (COVID-19) spread around Jazlyn Yamada was born and raised in Hawaii, and after graduating from Waipahu High School (Oahu, Hawaii), she studied at Yu Language Academy, a Japanese language school (Shinjuku, Tokyo). She has also decided to enter Tokyo Communication Art Training School (Edogawa-ku, Tokyo) in April 2025, allowing her to enjoy her study abroad life more. We asked for her to share her life jounrey and to give a word of encouragment to the people in Hawaii who are interested in studying in Japan.was born and raised in Hawaii. As you can tell from my name “Yamada,” my ancestors were Japanese, and this has kept me interested in Japan and the Japanese language. When I was in the sixth grade of elementary school, I read the Japanese Shōjo manga (manga for girls) “Cardcaptor Sakura” and found it very interesting, which made me even more drawn to Japan.fter entering Waipahu High School, I had the opportunity to study Japanese and learn more about the language as well as the culture. After graduating from Waipahu High School, I decided to study in Japan to further my interest in the Japanese language and enrolled in Yu Language Academy.ince it was my fi rst time going to Japan, I think I was initally quite anxious.
